Meet Sandra—my mom, the crochet queen, and your next favorite designer.

Let me tell you about my mom, Sandra. She’s been in Miami for 34 years, after moving here from Cali, Colombia, and she’s the hardest-working woman I know. Her life has been about giving her all—whether it was raising her family, working many jobs to make ends meet, or caring for everyone around her. But for the past 17 years, she’s also been living with heart failure, quietly facing challenges most people couldn’t even imagine.

In 2023, things took a serious turn when she reached end-stage heart failure. Her only chance was an emergency open-heart surgery to implant an LVAD—a Left Ventricular Assist Device. This incredible device is essentially a mechanical pump that helps her heart circulate blood, keeping her alive. It’s not a cure, and she’s not eligible for a heart transplant, so this is her “end-of-life” device. But for us, it’s been a second chance, and we’re so grateful to still have her here.

Adjusting to life with an LVAD hasn’t been easy. My mom had to give up her job, her independence, and so much of what she loved doing. But in true Sandra fashion, she turned this chapter into something beautiful. Crochet became her way to heal, to create, and to find joy again. Now, every purse she makes is a reflection of her resilience, her artistry, and her love for life.

We’re passionate about sharing her story—not just because she’s my mom, but because the LVAD is saving lives for people who aren’t eligible for transplants, like her. It’s a device that gives hope where there once wasn’t any, and for that, we’re forever thankful.

So when you carry one of her purses, know that it’s more than just a bag. It’s a symbol of strength, love, and the joy of being here, alive, and able to create. Thank you for being part of her story—it means the world to us. 💕
